Alvin Kamara Losing Out On Third-Down Work
2 years agoMore than ever before, New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara is being taken off the field on third downs in 2022. "I don't know. You got to ask someone else," Kamara said when asked why he's losing out on third-down snaps. He was on the field on third downs 81 percent of the time in 2021, but that number has dropped to 62 percent in 2022. "That's just how some of the game plans have played out," head coach Dennis Allen said. "He's been our primary (runner) for a majority of the season." The 27-year-old's now reduced role in obvious pass-catching situations has lowered his PPR ceiling tremendously, and he checks in as the RB17 in half-point PPR scoring through 16 weeks. He had a nice game in the Week 16 win over the Cleveland Browns, though, carrying the ball 20 times for 76 yards and a touchdown while adding two catches for 34 yards.
