Alvin Kamara 2025 Fantasy Football Outlook: Expected Target Decrease Amid Flux In Offense
Alvin Kamara and the New Orleans Saints started 2024 off gangbusters, rolling the Panthers and Cowboys while scoring 40-plus points over the first two weeks of the season. They were the hottest team in football, but an implosion on offense and injuries across the roster – including quarterback Derek Carr (shoulder) and wide receivers Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed – ultimately spelled disaster for New Orleans. Amid the chaos, Kamara still managed to shine. He was the overall PPR RB9 -- and better on a PPG basis (RB5) --, missing three games at the end of the year with a groin injury. 2025 will prove more challenging, though, with Carr retired and one of Jake Haener, Spencer Rattler, or rookie second-round pick Tyler Shough manning the helm. New Orleans added a solid third target in Brandin Cooks and should have a healthy Shaheed and Olave for the campaign, which is good, but could hurt the PPR value of Kamara if he's not targeted at the same rate he was with Carr. Fortunately, he'll remain the top rusher and retain some of his volume with teammates Kendre Miller and rookie Devin Neal backing him up. Kamara can still be a great fantasy pick, but if his target share comes down and scores are hard to come by, we could see a year closer to his 2022 finish (RB16). He's RotoBaller's RB16 and No.43 overall in the rankings.
