Alex Verdugo Officially Out Monday
1 year agoUpdating a previous report, Boston Red Sox outfielder Alex Verdugo (hamstring) is out of the starting lineup on Labor Day on Monday against the Tampa Bay Rays. Verdugo was pulled in Sunday's series finale against the Kansas City Royals due to left-hamstring tightness and will sit out on Monday as a precaution. The team is calling him day-to-day for now, so check back on his status on Tuesday. Rookie Wilyer Abreu is starting in center field and is batting leadoff against Rays right-hander Aaron Civale. Abreu has had a nice start to his major-league career, going 6-for-18 with a home run, five RBI and three runs scored in his first seven games in the Show. The 24-year-old Venezuelan will be an intriguing low-cost DFS option while atop Boston's order on Monday.
