Alex Smith Vital To Washington's Offense
4 years agoWashington Football Team quarterback Alex Smith (calf) continues to receive treatment for a mild calf strain that he suffered in the Week 14 win over the 49ers. It's unknown if he'll be able to suit up in Week 15 against the Seahawks, but Washington's offense needs him under center. Since the veteran signal-caller took over the starting job, Washington has been a top-10 offense, as their 26.8 points per game since Week 10 ranks seventh in the NFL. The team is also 4-1 in Smith's five starts, while they are 2-6 without him and average 19.1 points per game. The 36-year-old avoided a serious injury, but his status is still in doubt for this Sunday. If he can't go, Dwayne Haskins would likely step in, which would mean that Washington's pass-catchers should receive a slight downgrade. While Smith has been a godsend for Washington's offense, he's still more of a QB2 in fantasy circles.
