Alex Smith Recovering Nicely
6 years agoWashington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden said that quarterback Alex Smith (leg) is "recovering nicely" and thinks Smith will be back sooner than people expect. Gruden also said that Smith "can play catch." Smith suffered a gruesome broken leg in 2018 that might keep him off the field in a regular season game for the rest of his career. There seems to be a chance that he'll be ready sometime this year, but it still feels like more of a long shot and optimistic thinking. Case Keenum and rookie Dwayne Haskins will battle for the Week 1 starting duties in training camp, with Haskins expected to make the majority of the starts this season.
