Alex Smith Dealing With Calf Strain
4 years agoWashington Football Team quarterback Alex Smith (calf) was diagnosed with a calf strain after leaving the Week 14 win over the 49ers. All X-rays were negative and this doesn't appear to be a significant injury, so Smith isn't being ruled out yet for Week 15 against the Seahawks. We'll know a lot more on the veteran's status once practice kicks off for the week on Wednesday. Dwayne Haskins entered the game in place of Smith against San Francisco, so the second-year quarterback could get the start against Seattle if Smith isn't ready to go by then. Either way, Washington's QB would be more of a low-end QB2 for those in superflex leagues against a Seahawks Defense that is stiffening up toward the end of the season. Washington's skill players are better off if Smith is under center.
