Alec Mills Struggles In First Rehab Outing
Alec Mills (back) made his first rehab outing at Triple-A Iowa on Sunday and was only able to pitch 1 2/3 innings. Mills surrendered seven hits, one walk and five earned runs in the start. He managed just one strikeout. Iowa Cubs manager Marty Pevey said the goal was for Mills to go four innings, but his pitch count got too high and he needed to be removed. Mills will likely make at least one more start with Iowa before joining the Cubs. He had a 5.96 ERA and 1.46 WHIP over 12 appearances (one start) for the Cubs before landing on the injured list with a lower-back strain last weekend.
