Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Alec Martinez is done for the preseason after suffering an upper-body injury last week. The veteran blue-liner ended up making only one appearance in preseason, logging 20:46 of ice time and finishing with a minus-three rating in a 4-3 overtime loss to Los Angeles last Wednesday. Luckily for the Stanley Cup champions, Martinez's injury isn't considered to be a long-term thing, so it looks like he is expected to be good to go for Tuesday's season opener versus Seattle. Martinez will be out to produce a bounce-back season offensively in 2023-24 after finishing last term with just 14 points (three goals, 11 assists) in 77 appearances. Defensively, he had an outstanding year in 2022-23, recording a career-high 244 blocks.--Taavi Pailk
