Alcides Escobar Loves Hitting Off Chris Sale
6 years agoKansas City Royals shortstop Alcides Escobar is arguably the worst hitter in the league. Among players with 300 plate appearances or more this season, Escobar's wRC+ of just 37 is the worst by a considerable margin. However, Escobar got a reprieve on Friday night by getting to face one of his favorite pitchers, multi-Cy Young finalist Chris Sale. Escobar touched up Sale for his only earned run on Friday by smacking an RBI single, and he is now 25-for-74 (.338) lifetime against Sale. He actually has the most career hits against Sale of any player in the league. Perhaps if Esky could just face him, it would make some sense why he was still getting to play every day. In the meantime, Escobar continues to lead the major leagues in consecutive games started, and he should not be owned in any fantasy leagues.
