Albert Pujols Records RBI In Dodgers Debut
4 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers first baseman Albert Pujols, who said he's willing to accept a limited role with his new team, delivered a crucial RBI single in the team's 3-1 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday night after getting the start at first base while batting cleanup. "I told them I'm here to do whatever -- pinch hit, first base, whatever they want," Pujols said. "I'm just excited to have this opportunity to wear this uniform and glad to be here." The future Hall of Famer finished 1-for-4 in his debut. Gavin Lux has been moved to short with Corey Seager (hand) out with a fractured hand, allowing Max Muncy to move to second base. When the team is at full strength, the Dodgers plan to use Pujols mostly as a late-game pinch-hitter, which means he's not going to have much fantasy appeal the rest of the season. With an .889 OPS in late-and-close situations and an .878 OPS against lefties this year, the Dodgers think Pujols can be useful in the right situations.
