Albert Pujols 2020 Outlook: Only Some Pop Remains At Age 40
5 years agoAlbert Pujols drove in 93 runs last year, which was nearly 30 more than the year before, but otherwise he continued to look like he has hung around a bit too long. Pujols is entering his age-40 season and is still producing some power, but he is a batting average drain. Pujols has not hit above .250 in the past three seasons and his xBA has not been above .255 during that span. His Exit Velocity fell to 88.3 last season and the Hard Hit% fell from 40.7 to 35.3. His xSLG continued to drop, as he finished with a .433 mark. Pujols’ LD% also took an alarming drop from 25.3 to 15.9. As he seems to be rapidly moving into the twilight of his career, Pujols appears to be trending downward and his production may only worsen. He still garners enough respect to hit sixth in the Angels batting order, but he is not going to generate anything more than what we have seen in the past two seasons. At an ADP of 506.82, mixed leaguers should not have much regard for Pujols anymore. He is only worthy of roster consideration in AL-only formats.
