Adalberto Mondesi Undergoes Surgery Wednesday
5 years agoKansas City Royals shortstop Adalberto Mondesi (shoulder) underwent successful surgery on Wednesday to repair the labrum in his left shoulder. The 24-year-old aggravated the shoulder injury that caused him to miss six weeks earlier this year when he dove for a ball on Sept. 22. The Royals are hopeful that he'll be ready for Opening Day in 2020. The recovery time for this injury is five to six months. Mondesi could be eased in and held back in spring training. The switch-hitter batted .263/.291/.424 with nine home runs, 58 runs, 62 RBI and 43 stolen bases in 415 at-bats. Injuries are a concern with the young shortstop, but he's worth an early-round pick in fantasy for his ability to contribute across all fantasy categories, especially in stolen bases.
