Abraham Ancer Has A Difficult Path At Torrey Pines

Abraham Ancer has quickly turned into one of the more consistent players on the PGA Tour, but Torrey Pines is not a course that projects favorably for him. Over his last 36 rounds, Ancer ranks 117th in this field in driving distance and 125th in this field in proximity from 200-plus yards. On a course that tips out to 7,685 yards, Ancer would really need to rely on an elite short game and putter to contend. While Ancer has been putting well, unlike other shorter players such as Jordan Spieth and Patrick Reed, he does not possess an elite short game. The University of Oklahoma product ranks 57th in this field in strokes gained around the green, and he has lost an average of -0.3 strokes in that category over his last 20 starts. Fantasy managers should save Ancer for courses that do not place such a premium on distance.
