Aaron Nola Makes Second Rehab Start
Aaron Nola (ankle, rib) continues to work his way back to the team's rotation, and he took another step in his recovery process on Wednesday by throwing 69 pitches in 3 2/3 innings in Triple-A for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs. He had three strikeouts and allowed one run on four hits and two walks. This was Nola's second rehab outing after originally landing on the injured list with a sprained ankle on May 15. While rehabbing that injury, he felt soreness in his side, and testing revealed a stress fracture in his right rib. Nola will likely make one more rehab start early next week, and he could rejoin the Phillies rotation by the middle of the month if all continues to go well. He struggled with a 6.16 ERA and 5.04 FIP in 11 starts before landing on the injured list, but the Phils and Nola's fantasy managers will hope he comes back healthy and more effective for the stretch run.
