MLB DFS Picks Today: Daily Fantasy Baseball Strategy and Tips For FanDuel, DraftKings (4/29/25)

matt olson fantasy baseball rankings draft sleepers mlb injury news

Jamie's top DraftKings and FanDuel MLB DFS picks for today, Tuesday, 4/29/25. His favorite daily fantasy baseball lineup sleepers and value picks for DFS on DraftKings and FanDuel.

I'm back! I want to personally thank my colleagues at RotoBaller for covering for me in MLB and NBA last week while I took the family in the ol' front-wheel drive sleigh heading out to find the Griswold family Christmas tree!

OK, we went to Florida. Anyway, after a fun vacation, it's back to business on the diamond. There are 10 games tonight, including a Coors game and some other really fun matchups to exploit. Our RotoBaller team will be on Discord all day and evening, helping you build the best lineups for cash and GPP.

This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 4/29/2025, with the slate starting at 7:05 p.m. EDT. The lineup picks will showcase elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. Monitoring injury news and today's MLB starting lineups is always essential.

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Garrett Crochet, BOS ($10.5K DK/$10.6K FD)

The night begins with a tough decision at SP1. Garrett Crochet and Freddy Peralta are both prime options, and picking the correct one will go a long way in cashing tonight. Peralta gets to face the pitiful White Sox, which will likely make him chalky, but strikeouts are king in DFS.

Crochet has started his career in Boston on a very strong note, logging a 29.7 percent K rate and 13.3 percent swinging strike rate. He's also allowing a career-low 7.9 percent barrel rate, and he has 27 Ks over his last three contests. The Blue Jays gave him a bit of a tough time last time out, but you're betting on the talent here.

Jacob deGrom, TEX ($8.8K DK/$9.4K FD)

Imagine if Jacob deGrom wasn't so oft-injured. I honestly think we'd be talking about him in the pantheon of all-time greats, but sometimes the injury gods have other plans. Right now, deGrom is healthy, and he's doing just fine with a 2.99 xERA despite a definite dip in his K rate.

The A's are not striking out at nearly the clip they did in 2024, but they still project to be a bottom-5 offense against RHP. DeGrom is coming off a game against these same A's where he struck out six over 5.1 innings, and his pitch counts are starting to consistently get into the 85-90 range.

Others To Consider (Cash/GPP):

  • Freddy Peralta, MIL ($10.3K DK/$10.2K FD)
  • Bryce Miller, SEA ($8.2K DK/$9.1K FD)

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Bobby Witt Jr., KC ($5.8K DK/$3.7K FD)

The Royals only have an IRT of 3.7 runs against Taj Bradley, but I'm into KC a bit more than the field (and especially Witt). Bradley is one of Tampa's promising young pitchers, but 2025 has seen a dip in K rate (almost two fewer batters per nine) and a rise in his BB rate.

Witt is a premier hitter for KC, offering a unique mix of both power and speed. He's also hit well in the reverse split, posting a .384 wOBA and .234 ISO against RHP since the beginning of last year. Bradley, in turn, has struggled more with righties, giving up a .351 wOBA so far this year.

Matt Olson, ATL ($5.5K DK/$3.6K FD)

The Braves are the top offense to target tonight in Coors Field. They have a slate-high IRT of 6.1 runs, and the wind is not expected to be blowing as strongly as it did last night. Matt Olson's barrel rate is among the top 10 in MLB over the past 10 games, and he has a .387 wOBA and .224 ISO against RHP since the beginning of last season.

German Marquez has a long history of struggling in the platoon split, and this year should be no different. His K rates are down, and his projected CSW is a meager 20.5, which is the lowest on the slate (even lower than Bryse Wilson's). You should stack Braves in GPP, but Olson is a cash must as a one-off.

Josh Jung, TEX ($3.5K DK/$3K FD)

Jacob Lopez is someone who should be fully attacking with Rangers tonight, even though they're throwing out some wonky lineups. Lopez has a career K rate of 16.2 percent before this season, and his career xFIP is 5.68. Texas will offer some chalky options since their hitters are so cheap, and Josh Jung should be at the top of the list.

Jung is riding a six-game hitting streak and is one of the better platoon hitters on this Texas team. Since the beginning of 2024, he's posted a .380 wOBA and .234 ISO against southpaws, and his BB rate is up and K rate is down. He's a fine addition at 3B for a money-saving option

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Shohei Ohtani, LAD ($6.3K DK/$4.4K FD)

Once again, Shohei Ohtani is the top-rated hitter of the evening, even facing a solid pitcher in Sandy Alcantara. The two-way superstar just continues to do what he does, posting a .455 wOBA, .387 ISO, and 48 percent HHR against RHP since the beginning of last year.

Sandy Alcantara is the Marlins' ace, but he's had his struggles with this Dodgers lineup in the past. He's also off to a miserable start to the year with a 6.56/4.82/4.23 pitching slash, and he's walked almost five batters per nine while striking out less than seven per nine.

Alex Verdugo, ATL ($4K DK/$3.1K FD)

Alex Verdugo isn't that good a hitter, but we're always targeting leadoff hitters in Coors, especially when they're cheap. Verdugo won't offer you power upside (even in the platoon against a Coors pitcher), but he doesn't strike out at ALL against righties.

Since the beginning of last year, Verdugo has only struck out at a 13.6 percent clip against RHP, which gives him a high floor against Marquez, whose K rate in the platoon split is significantly less.

Kevin Pillar, TEX ($2.8K DK/$2.6K FD)

Doesn't it feel like Kevin Pillar has been playing for 30 years? Not only is he still in the league, he's currently leading off for one of the premier offenses in the league and is near minimum price tags on both sites. For that reason, we should be aggressively targeting him against Lopez and the A's bullpen.

Pillar has understandably lost a step in the power department, but he can still produce against opposite-handed pitchers. Since the beginning of last year, Pillar has a .355 wOBA against LHP while only striking out at a 17 percent rate.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

DraftKings, FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks

1. Atlanta Braves vs German Marquez

Stacking in Coors is money when the weather is right, and tonight looks like the night to do it. The Braves' IRT of 6.1 runs oozes upside, and they have plenty of contact/power threats to make life miserable for Marquez and a very questionable Rockies bullpen.

Favorite Combo: Verdugo, Riley, Ozuna, Olson

2. Los Angeles Dodgers vs Sandy Alcantara

As I mentioned above, Alcantara is off to a terrible start to 2025. His GB rate is elite at 59 percent, but that's about all that's working in his favor. His K rate is way down, his walk rate is way up, and he's allowing more hard contact than he ever has in his career. I'm hoping the field is intimidated by his name and we get to sneak in a few Dodgers.

If you're a BvP (batter vs pitcher) enthusiast, Max Muncy, Mookie Betts, Michael Conforto, and Will Smith have all had significant success against Alcantara.

Favorite Combo: Ohtani, Betts, Freeman, Conforto

3. Texas Rangers vs Jacob Lopez

This is the cheap stack that will allow you to pair with expensive Braves or Dodgers, or go all-in on starting pitching (Crochet/Peralta?). The Rangers' injuries have thrust some interesting names into prominence, but even those backups have an IRT approaching five runs. They'll be popular, but rightfully so.

Favorite Combo: Pillar, Langford, Jung, Garcia (watch Higashioka's lineup spot again too)
