There are key performances, prospect promotions, and injuries to watch for this week. Brice Matthews is swinging a hot bat as of late, mashing three home runs with eight RBI over his last five games. After slumping earlier in the year, the Mets recalled catcher Francisco Alvarez on Monday. Alvarez is hitting .333 (2-for-6) with a home run and two walks since being recalled. The Dodgers placed closer Tanner Scott on the injured list with left elbow inflammation. Kirby Yates picked up the save on Monday and will likely handle closing duties for the Dodgers with Scott sidelined.
