Rams running back (RB) Malcolm Brown is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup to target as a free agent addition for Week 17 of the 2020 NFL season.

ANALYSIS: The gate of opportunity appears to have opened as wide as possible for Los Angeles Rams running back Malcolm Brown. The team lost Cam Akers (ankle) to a high-ankle sprain in Week 15. He's out indefinitely. This past week, the team lost Darrell Henderson Jr. (ankle) to another ankle injury that is feared to be a high-ankle sprain as well, which would likely sideline him for Week 17. As a result, Brown appears to be headed for a featured role in the season finale.
Brown started the year off with a bang, rushing 18 times for 79 yards and two scores against the Dallas Cowboys. Yet after that game, he went on to play a secondary role to Henderson, and then a tertiary role behind both Henderson and Akers. He had seen three or fewer carries for five straight games prior to Week 16, when he rushed seven times for 27 yards. On the year, he's been pretty efficient with his touches, averaging 4.1 yards per carry on 98 carries and 7.5 yards per reception on 22 receptions.
Brown should be added in all leagues of 12 teams or deeper for Week 17. He's also worth consideration in more shallow leagues. Next week, the Rams play the Arizona Cardinals, who just got run over by Jeff Wilson Jr. and the San Francisco 49ers. Assuming Henderson is out, Brown should see at least 15 touches in the game, making him a solid RB2 option in Week 17.
