LEC DFS Matchups

  • SK vs. Schalke (-180)
  • Mad Lions (-425) vs. XL
  • Rogue (-210) vs. Misfits
  • Vitality vs. Fnatic (-130)
  • G2 (-450) vs. Astralis

Captain/MVP

Caps - G2: Caps has been the best player for G2 through their first three games. His ability to roam the map and make plays in the side lanes allows him to rack up kills and assists all game long. He is leading all mid laners in creep score difference (CSD) at 10 minutes with a CSD10 of 16. G2 typically looks to give Caps the counter pick (67%) in his lane which allows him to constantly win his lane. Caps is averaging 8.6 kills and assists a game so far. With both G2 and Astralis being in the top five in kills per game, look for caps to go over his average in this one.

Jankos - G2: Sticking with the G2 theme here, Jankos is tied for second on the team in Kill Percentage (KP) at 63.4%. He leads all junglers in KDA with 6.5 and has managed to get first blood in two of his three games so far. He goes up against Zanzarah who has 25% of his team's deaths so far. Jankos CSD10 sits at 5.7 compared to Zanzarah's -12.7. Jankos should be able to take advantage of his early CS lead and be stronger than his counterpart throughout the game.

TOP

Armut - MAD: While Armut hasn't been the same guy we saw take over the spring finals against rogue and lead Mad Lions to the title it will be coming. He is one of the best top laners in the league and a matchup against the worst top laner in the league in Kryze is exactly what he needs to breakout. Armut's numbers have not been amazing, he still has been performing well in lane with positive Gold (53), Experience (181), and CS (3.7) differences at 10 minutes. Kryze on the other hand has negative numbers in each category. The gap between these two top laners is massive and will show.

Adam - FNC: If looking for a value play in the top lane, Adam is your guy. Fnatic love to fight, through 3 games they have 49 kills and 53 deaths as a team. While those numbers show they don't always win the fights they still rack up the points even in losses. While his in-lane numbers are in the lower half of the league through the first week, his counterpart in SLT has the worst in lane number so far. The big thing that stands out in this matchup is that Fnatic has given Adam the counter pick in top lane every game so far meanwhile SLT was not given counter-pick once last week. This should allow Adam to have a winning lane matchup which gives him the advantage once the team fight chaos breaks out.

JUNGLE

Jankos - G2: If you haven't chosen Jankos in the captain slot, get him locked in here.

Elyoya - MAD: Elyoya v Dan is one of the most one-sided matchups of the day. While Dan did have a good first week his success ends here. Elyoya does a great job keeping track of jungle timers and should be able to steal away some enemy camps which allows him to grow his lead. Elyoya went head to head with some of the best players in the world at MSI and showed he deserved to be there. A matchup with XL and Dan is nothing to worry about. Elyoya owns the highest Kill Percentage of all junglers in the league at 29.3%. He has also secured 100% of the rift heralds and 64% of dragons through the first week.

Bwipo - FNC: Who would have thought that the top laner turned jungler would make it into the write-up so quickly. Bwipo was better than expected and he loves to fight. There is never a fight Bwipo won't take and that is what we are hoping for when putting him in lineups. Bwipo had 13 kills and 20 assists in week one giving him an average of 11 K+A which is second in the league to Misfits Vetheo. The nice thing with Fnatic as mentioned earlier is they don't need to win to rack up points and when they do the upside is huge.

MID

Caps - G2: If you elected to not take Caps as your captain, he deserves consideration here up against Astralis.

Humanoid - MAD: Humanoid leads the Mad Lions in both Kill Participation 68.3% and Kill Share with 31.7% while also having the lowest Death Rate at 14.3%. If that isn't enough convincing, Mad Lions have focussed on getting Hummanoid onto hard carry champions with him playing Lucian once and Akali twice. Teams make it their focus to get these players ahead in the early game and see them take over the game later on as they become insanely strong. MAD found success with this strategy in week one and there is no reason to fix what isn't broken.

Vetheo - MSF: This pick definitely comes with some risk going up against Rogue, but Vetheo was a man on a mission in week one racking up 22 kills and 15 assists. He currently leads the league in KDA with 18.5 and has an insane 44.9% Kill share on his team. If looking for a one-off play Vetheo is a great option.

ADC

Rekkles - G2: Rekkles is the safest pick almost every game, the guy just does not die. He has died twice in three games and owns a 6.5% death share while having a 31.7 % kill share for G2. Those two stats alone are enough to play Rekkles. The Astralis bot lane combines for 46.9% of their team's deaths, that's a scary thought going up against the best ADC in the league. G2 does their best to give Rekkles counter pick in lane as he has a 67% Counter Pick Rate (CTR). Astralis ADC Jeskla has a 0% CTR through week one.

Crownshot - VIT: Vitality is yet to break out like some were expecting after shuffling their roster this split. A game against the most fight-happy team in the league could be exactly what they need. Crownshot owns a poor 5.6 K+A average through the first week but is the team leader in Gold Percentage at 27.4%. Should Vitality be able to pick up the win in this game look for Crownshot being the one leading the way which gives him massive upside.

SUPPORT

Mikyx - G2: If playing Rekkles as your ADC, it makes sense to pair him with his bot lane partner in Mikyx. Mikyx is averaging 10.6 K+A so far and has shown a great ability to roam the map and help his other laners make plays as seen by his 78% Kill Participation. He also has a 100% CTR so far which on supports can be a game-changer.

Kaiser - MAD: Kaiser is one of the top supports in the league. His synergy with jungler Elyoya is amazing and the two of them pull off some pretty incredible plays. Kaiser leads the league is XPD10 with 261 which is pretty impressive considering he has a 0% CTR. That just shows how good he is. Look for Kaiser to style on XL all game and rack up the assists while he's at it.

Hylissang - FNC: Hylissang is another cheap member of Fnatic and anytime you can get Fnatic at a value they are worth considering. Hylissang much like Bwipo doesn't turn down the chance to fight and while it sometimes leads to his death he picks up a bunch of assists along the way. He also works as a cheap one-off play to fill out lineups.

TEAM

Mad Lions: MAD has a 67% first blood rate, 75% baron control rate, and a 64% dragon control rate. Those are all numbers you want to see when choosing who to take in your team slot. They should have no trouble dismantling XL in this game and are one of the safest options on the board.

G2: Much like the Mad Lions above G2 has great neutral objective numbers with a 67% first blood rate, 50% baron control, and a very impressive 73% dragon control rate. Astralis is not on the same level as G2 and taking them in the team slot is a safe way to ensure your points.

Final Thoughts

Both G2 and Mad Lions should have no trouble in matchups on day one. Each one of their laners is better than the player on the other side making G2 and MAD the two safest and likely chalkiest plays of the slate. On Fanduel you are able to fit both of them into one lineup where DraftKings you are going to have to choose one or the other. I would lean G2 as Astralis is more willing to participate in fights compared to XL. The SK and Schalke (-182) game is closer than the betting odds are saying in my opinion but it is a stay-away game for me on this slate. As is the case with any Fnatic game, being on the right side of it is often a profitable strategy. It could go either way but you will want to have a piece of it one way or another.
