Kyle Williams fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks for Week 1 (2025). Should you start or sit Kyle Williams for fantasy football lineups in Week 1?
BALLER MOVE: Start in 14+ team leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: Upside WR4
ANALYSIS: The Patriots selected wide receiver Kyle Williams out of Washington State in the third round of April's NFL Draft. Williams spent his final two seasons of his college career with Washington State.
In 2023, Williams caught 61 passes for 843 yards and six touchdowns. However, in his final season, 2024, Williams enjoyed a massive breakout year, totaling an eye-catching 1,198 yards and 14 touchdowns.
The 22-year-old was an intriguing sleeper selection entering draft season, as the Patriots have lacked a true WR1 for some time. While they added Stefon Diggs in free agency, he is coming off a torn ACL and may face challenges in returning to his pre-injury form at his age.
Despite this, the Patriots opted to ease Williams into action during the preseason, as he was typically deployed with the second team. Instead, DeMario Douglas, Mack Hollins, and Kayshon Boutte were deployed with starting quarterback Drake Maye. In addition, Williams recently suffered an undisclosed injury, which kept him out of action during their preseason finale against the Colts.
However, he was able to return to practice this past weekend, which should put him in a good position to suit up in Week 1.
Even though he appears to have recovered from this minor injury, given that he rarely saw time with the first team during pre-season, he remains a high-risk option for the season opener. While he could eventually carve out a role in the offense, he is only worth deploying in deep 14+ team 3-WR leagues as a high-risk WR4 in Week 1.
