Khalil Herbert's fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks for Week 18 (2023). Our advice on whether you should start or sit Khalil Herbert for fantasy lineups.
BALLER MOVE: Start in 12+ Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: RB2
ANALYSIS: Chicago Bears running back Khalil Herbert had high hopes entering the season, but the team’s backfield has been a merry-go-round for fantasy players. Herbert, D'Onta Foreman, and Roschon Johnson have all had a fantasy impact at different times this year. The former Virginia Tech star has been the best of the bunch. He is the RB42 for the season, averaging 8.9 half-point PPR fantasy points per game.
Lately, Foreman has been the odd man out of the backfield, missing the past two games. Last week, he was a healthy scratch in the matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. Herbert has taken advantage of the veteran’s absence, totaling over 110 rushing yards, a touchdown, and 18.6 or more fantasy points in back-to-back contests.
Unfortunately, he showed up on the team’s injury report today with a back injury. While the injury isn’t significant, the Bears could sit the starting running back in a meaningless Week 18 game for Chicago. If Herbert doesn’t play, Foreman will be the lead back, with Johnson mixing it.
Fantasy players in season-long leagues or DFS tournaments should hope Herbert can play. He faces a Green Bay Packers defense that has surrendered over 100 rushing yards to running backs in four of their past six matchups.
