Kevin Huerter is worth considering as a fantasy basketball waiver wire pickup heading into Week 7 of the NBA season.
BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 40% of leagues
ANALYSIS: The Redhead Mamba started the season slowly and came off the pine as part of Atlanta's second unit nightly. No bueno. The Hawks had a rough start to the year on top of that, and with Huerter limited to just 23 MPG and only two starts in 12 games, well, let's say things weren't looked so good for his fantasy GMs. These days, though, 60% of GMs out there are licking their chops while thinking about the possibility of landing such an underrated-but-improving murdered as Huerter has become of late.
Huerter has started seven games in a row at the SF position. Atlanta, as I'm writing this, has won seven straight. Coincidence? I don't think so, folks. Huerter is playing a bulky 28 MPG in the past two weeks of play and those seven games he's started. He's only failed to score 1+ triple in one of those seven matches, and he's actually averaging 2 3PM on that span to go with 11.5+ PPG... on a ridiculously high 53.4% shooting from the field on a low-volume 8 FGA a pop.
While Huerter won't ever give you much more than points, three-pointers, and bonkers shooting percentages, the amount of playing time he's getting is more than enough to have him racking up numbers on a nightly basis. The rebounds and assists are low but steady at almost 4 and 3 respectively in that seven-game span without fail. Must-roster in shallower formats, must-start daily/weekly in deeper leagues.
