ANALYSIS: It might be happening, Giants fans. In Week 4 against the New Orleans Saints, rookie Giants receiver Kadarius Toney flashed some slippery moves and explosiveness on the way to six catches for 78 yards. He had a team-high nine targets in the game after seeing just five total targets over the first three weeks of the year combined.
The first round pick out of Florida had a nightmare of a training camp, barely seeing the field due to a hamstring injury and a positive COVID-19 test. His inability to stay on the field resulted in a great deal of unwarranted negative buzz from the press. This bad press led to fantasy managers wanting no part as well.
Toney was drafted into an extremely crowded receiver corps in New York. However, now could be his opportunity to seize a decent piece of the pie. Sterling Shepard (hamstring) and Darius Slayton (hamstring) were both sidelined in Week 4 and their status is up in the air for Week 5. Kenny Golladay also looms large in the equation and he delivered season-highs in targets (seven), receptions (six) and receiving yards (117) in Week 4.
Giants quarterback Daniel Jones has exceeded expectations so far, throwing for 1,184 yards and posting a 98.3 quarterback rating through four weeks. There's a good chance that he can produce two solid fantasy receivers on a weekly basis. It's just a question of which two. Even amidst a talented group of receivers, Toney may very well be the most dynamic of the bunch with his ability to make defenders miss. He's got high-upside potential and as such, he's worth a waiver wire claim in all PPR leagues of 14 teams or deeper.
