BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 58% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: It's been a bit of a slow burn for Seattle Seahawks rookie wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba. The electrifying player out of Ohio State was drafted 20th overall in the 2023 NFL Draft, but it took until Week 7 for him to record more than 50 receiving yards in a game.
He's now gone over that mark in two of the past three games, though it's worth noting he hasn't gone too far over it, recording 63 receiving yards in both Week 7 and Week 9. He scored a touchdown in Week 7 and also added another in Week 8 against Cleveland.
Against the Ravens this week, Smith-Njigba didn't find the end zone, but he might have had his most appealing game when it comes to fantasy projection, as he tied his season-high in targets while playing 82% of Seattle's snaps. His previous best was 72%.
Also notable is he did this while Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf both played over 80% of snaps as well. The Seahawks went with three receivers for much of this game. On the season, Seattle runs 11 personnel on first down the ninth-least of any team, so if that trend starts to change going forward, Smith-Njigba should continue to see more playing time.
I also don't see a reason it won't rise. Seattle has three really talented receivers; it should want all three on the field as much as possible. For that reason, Smith-Njigba is worth adding in 12-team leagues, because this uptick in usage should be for real.
