James Cook is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup option for running backs. Target him as a free agent add off waivers for Week 17 of the 2022 NFL season.
BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 52% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: The Bills played at frozen Chicago on Saturday and simply destroyed the Bears, as expected. Both rushers on Buffalo's side, James Cook and Devin Singletary spent at least 26 snaps on the field each and pretty much split their workloads with the former falling no more than two routes/carries behind the latter.
Cook rushed the rock 11 times on Saturday for 99 yards and a touchdown while Singletary did so 12 times for 106 and another score. The truth is, they couldn't have put up closer numbers. Singletary got one more target and reception but, again, the per-target basis was pretty much the same as Cook caught 1-of-2 targets for 9 yards compared to Singletary's 19 yards on 2-of-3 targets.
While Singletary has been a bit better than Cook weekly, the truth is that they have never been quite separated from a fantasy perspective. In the last month of play, Cook has averaged 12.2 FPPG (with a Week 14 2.5-PPR stinker baked into it) while Singletary has put up 11.7 (including a 5.3-PPR outing in Week 14, too).
Cook is still available in nearly half of all Yahoo leagues and Buffalo should keep winning games and running ground plays often with the usage of these two remaining very balanced. Cook has now back-to-back games of at least 11.9 PPR points and scoring touchdowns (a receiving one in W15 and a rushing one in W16).
