Isaac Guerendo is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup option for running backs. Target him as a free agent add off waivers for Week 9 of the 2024 NFL season.
BALLER MOVE: Add
ROSTERED IN: 9% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: San Francisco 49ers running back Isaac Guerendo should be rostered in most leagues, especially by managers of lead RB Christian McCaffrey. To anyone with eyes, it's incredibly obvious that Guerendo is more explosive, faster, and a better fantasy football option than San Fran's RB2, Jordan Mason.
Every Isaac Guerendo carry I see, I become more confused that his coaches have decided he wasn't their team's best running back each of the last 7 seasonspic.twitter.com/gYtQLPGOzt

He has great size and an incredible burst ability. Any small gap in the defensive line will be exploited if he's the one running the ball, and he's already made multiple explosive plays despite only receiving significant playing time in two games. He's averaging 6.1 yards per carry on the season.
It appears that Mason has some lingering injury issues, and the path to Guerendo being relevant for any portion of the season is rough considering that McCaffrey is on track to return some time around Week 10. That said, the 49ers coaching staff should take notice of his prowess and make him the backup.
He'll be a CMC handcuff once the superstar is back and healthy, but he has fantastic upside if he can take over the backup role from Mason.
