Griffin Jax is a fantasy baseball waiver wire pickup for closers and saves. Target Jax as a free agent relief pitcher for saves on the waiver wire.
BALLER MOVE: Add in 10+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 57% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: The Minnesota Twins placed star closer Jhoan Duran (oblique) on the 15-day injured list with a moderate right oblique strain. The 26-year-old is expected to be out for more than 15-day minimum and likely miss most of April. With Duran sidelined, the Twins turned to Griffin Jax for the team's first save opportunity against the Kansas City Royals.
Jax was called upon in the ninth inning to close out the game against Kansas City. The 29-year-old allowed one walk while striking out one over a scoreless inning to earn the save. Jax relied mainly on his sweeper and 4-seam fastball to retire three of the four batters he faced in the Opening Day win. It should be noted that Brock Stewart came in the eighth inning and allowed a hit over a scoreless inning.
Griffin Jax with the save as the #MNTwins close out a 4-1 victory over Kansas City on Opening Day.
Pablo López, Carlos Correa and Byron Buxton were very good.
More to come on the Royce Lewis injury.

Jax's fantasy stock rose once Duran sustained an oblique injury in late March. The Twins' right-hander is widely available and is rostered in only 57% of leagues. Fantasy managers should run to the waiver wire to add Jax in all leagues, as he is set to be Minnesota's primary closer until Duran can return.
