We've got another edition of the Injured Players to Stash in Fantasy Baseball series for Week 2 as we continue kicking off the 2025 season. Today's article looks at injured players like Max Scherzer, Tobias Myers, Zack Gelof and more.

With 2025 fantasy baseball drafts concluding and the season getting underway, there are several injured players out there who have low roster percentages and may be available on your league's waiver wires. These players can provide tons of value to fantasy managers, especially if they have an IL spot on their rosters.

Max Scherzer, SP, Toronto Blue Jays

Rostered: 52% Yahoo
Estimated Return: Late April

2024 Stats: 2-4/3.95 ERA/40 K/10 BB/43.1 IP

This is probably the most obvious add on the list this week. Scherzer went down in his first start of 2025; however, he is not expected to miss much time and could begin throwing as early as Friday.

While he did not have a superb 2024 season due to injury, he still managed to strike out 40 batters across 40.1 IP. He will immediately slot into the Blue Jays rotation upon his return, of course. If he can find anything remotely close to his former self, this is a solid addition to your roster.

If he struggles, then he does not cost much aside from a waiver add. There are obvious concerns here with his age, but the upside could still be there for Scherzer.

Tobias Myers, SP, Milwaukee Brewers

Rostered: 16% Yahoo
Estimated Return: Late April

2024 Stats: 9-6/3.00 ERA/127 K/36 BB/138.0 IP

I was shocked to see that Myers is only rostered in 16 percent of Yahoo leagues, given the success he had in 2024. He managed to post a 3.00 ERA across 138.0 IP and is one of the top starters in the Brewers rotation upon his return.

He will also have the benefit of pitching in a somewhat watered-down NL Central, which should certainly help his cause upon his return. He will begin a rehab assignment next week, so managers will not have to worry about him occupying an IL spot for too long, either.

He was a highly touted prospect in the Guardians system before being acquired by Milwaukee as well, so the future should be bright for this blossoming starting pitcher.

Zack Gelof, 2B, Athletics

Rostered: 4% Yahoo
Estimated Return: Mid-May

2024 Stats: .211/.270/.362/17 HR/49 RBI/25 SB

Full disclosure: I have never been a huge Zack Gelof fan; however, he does provide a ton of value on the basepaths, as noted by his 25 stolen bases in 2024. Unfortunately, he was only able to muster a .362 SLG.

This being said, the new park the Athletics are playing in has proved to be quite a hitters' haven thus far in 2025, so we could certainly see his power numbers increase. They also were not horrible in Oakland in 2024 when he hit 17 bombs.

He will likely slot right back into the lineup upon his return as well if Max Muncy is unable to supplant him. This is definitely on the lower end of adds in this article given his timetable for return, but he could provide some value in the latter half of the season.

Jesus Sanchez, OF, Miami Marlins

Rostered: 3% Yahoo
Estimated Return: Mid-April

2024 Stats: .252/.313/.417/18 HR/64 RBI/16 SB

Jesus Sanchez is probably my favorite player to pick up in this article. He has a solid combination of power and speed, as noted by his 18 home runs and 16 stolen bases in 2024.

The Marlins lineup is bleak, to say the least, so he will find himself a spot in the heart of the order upon his return, which should be in the coming weeks, if not sooner. He has increased his home run, RBI, and stolen base total in each of the previous three seasons and should be able to achieve this once again if he gets back as soon as expected.

Add Sanchez in all formats, as he will likely not occupy an IL spot for too long.

Masataka Yoshida, OF, Boston Red Sox

Rostered: 5% Yahoo
Estimated Return: Mid-to-Late April

2024 Stats: .280/.349/.415/10 HR/56 RBI/2 SB

Masataka Yoshida has resumed baseball activities and should return in the coming weeks. He makes for a solid addition to rosters seeking help with batting average, as he has hit at least .280 in each of the previous two seasons.

He has also been solid at producing runs, given his 64 RBI average over the previous two seasons. The Red Sox lineup is loaded this year with the addition of Alex Bregman, so Yoshida should be able to step right in and help production. He makes for a solid addition in all formats.
