FanDuel, DraftKings NHL DFS Lineup Picks (10/15/19): Daily Fantasy Hockey

Tuesday features seven games in all with a spotlight on games like Nashville and Vegas, Montreal and Tampa Bay, plus even Calgary and Philadelphia.

Remember, when looking around for plays, an over/under of 6 dictates offense, but an over/under of 5 or sometimes 5.5 tilts towards the goalies. There are several games at 6.5, as that has become the new norm in October now.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 10/15/19. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @ChrisWasselDFS. Let's get to it, shall we?

DFS Forwards to Consider

Auston Matthews - C, TOR vs MIN (FD - $8,800, DK - $8,100)

Matthews faces a Minnesota Wild team that is not rested and allows over four goals a game. Matthews is a goal-generating machine again with six goals in six games and a whopping 29 shots on net. That means hitting the shot bonus on DraftKings and often. So far, the pivot has five points -- including a four-point outburst against the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday. The center only has an assist to go with his goals but is generating scoring chances at nearly 50 per 60.

Mark Stone - W, VGK vs NSH  (FD - $7,500, DK - $7,100)

The winger keeps going and has piled up nine points in his first six games which includes 20+ FanDuel points in five of his six outings. This will be the line that faces a Nashville team that allows over four goals a game. Vegas has the sixth-ranked power play in the league at 30.9% and a big part of that is Stone who generates opportunities and has scored twice on the man advantage.

Also Consider:

  • Sean Monahan, Dylan Larkin, and even Matt Duchene could be viable plays on Tuesday night.
  • Johnny Gaudreau and Filip Forsberg are also in plus-matchup situations on this medium slate.

DFS Defenders to Consider

Dougie Hamilton - D, CAR vs LAK (FD - $6,200, DK - $6,700)

Hamilton is elite will be a phrase pundits get used to saying this year now that Carolina has figured out to spread their power-play time more evenly to a player of his caliber. The defenseman can easily average 3+ shots a night and generate three scoring chances a game. The bonus lies in the fact that Hamilton can average around 1.5 blocks per contest typically. Just the fact that he has eight real-world points in six games is a harbinger of things to come. IF Jonathan Quick starts tonight, his chances go up even more.

Sean Walker - D, LAK vs CAR (FD - $3,800, DK - $4,200)

Walker functions as a nice value play as his price continues to slowly rise on all platforms. That is the key for the defenseman. He blocks a few shots a game and unleashes his above-average shot a couple of opportunities a night. The biggest part of Walker's game the past few outings is that 12 shots on net in the last three contests. If he keeps that up, he has big value because that shot can hit 95-100 mph.

Also Consider:

  • Brett Pesce and Ryan Ellis enjoy plus-matchups and are both under $5,000 for budget considerations.
  • Chris Tanev from Vancouver is a solid, value play (under $4,000) on Tuesday night.

DFS Goalie to Consider

Jimmy Howard - G, DET vs VAN (FD - $7,200, DK - $7,100)

Howard delivered the best performance against Nashville early in the season but arguably had an even better performance against the Toronto Maple Leafs last week. He did allow four goals on 40 shots but remember that 35+ save shot bonus on DraftKings. That is important. If Howard could snag a win, that might mean big value for a smaller price among goalies on Tuesday night.

Also Consider:

  • The other good GPP choice on Tuesday is higher-risk but that would be Thatcher Demko who is in the same matchup but one of these low-priced goalies is going to win.
