FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Lineup Picks (8/24/16): MLB DFS Advice

Max Petrie highlights the top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for 8/24/16. These are the top value and sleeper plays for your FanDuel MLB DFS lineups.

Welcome back RotoBallers. We've got a fun day on tap, with all 30 teams in play and five day games starting at 12:35 ET. Since Astros-Pirates is only available in All-Day formats, I will be leaving that contest out of this article. There's plenty of aces on board though, including Jose Fernandez, Yu Darvish, Johnny Cueto and Jacob deGrom.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball MLB lineup picks for FanDuel on 8/24/16. As for Vegas insights, the heavy moneyline favorites tonight are the Cubs (-250), Marlins (-250) and Pirates (-190). The highest scoring totals are Tigers-Twins and Phillies-White Sox at 9.5.

Editor's Note: Purchase a full season NFL Premium Pass (including Draft Kit + DFS Premium), and also get MLB Premium + DFS for free through October. Premium DFS lineup picks, expert lineups, tools and more - seven days a week. You can see screenshots of our NFL Premium and MLB Premium and DFS tools. What are you waiting for?

DFS Lineup Stacks to Target for FanDuel

Phillies versus James Shields

Remember that little run in July Shields put together? That was fun. Since then he's allowed 27 runs with nine home runs in just 14 innings. The Phillies aren't the most prestigious offense, but that should only help contain ownership levels. Multiple Phillies are hitting well, including (gulp) Ryan Howard. If you snag an ace, look no further for cheap offensive support.

Rockies versus Kyle Davies

What comes up must go down. Or in case of Davies' ERA, what goes down must come up. Davies had a tough time versus the Cubs last time out (4 IP, 7 ER) and things don't get easier today. The Rockies have the third best OPS versus RHP and Nolan Arenado loves hitting at Miller Field. David Dahl and Arenado are both at the top of my wish list today.

Also Consider: Cubs versus Paul Clemens

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider for FanDuel

Masahiro Tanaka (SP, NYY) - $10,300

Tanaka has been on fire, posting at least eight strikeouts in three straight starts and posting no less than 45 FanDuel points in that span. He hasn't allowed a walk in that span either. Mariners have cooled as an offense and I anticipate Tanaka winning the Battle for Japan with Hisashi Iwakuma.

Matt Boyd (SP, DET) - $6,400

Boyd has pitched well of late, including limiting the Red Sox potent offense to two runs his last time out. He has a 2.06 ERA in seven starts since rejoining the rotation and previously shut out the Twins this season. With the Royals creeping up, every game is a must win in Detroit.

DFS Infielders to Consider for FanDuel

Catcher (C)

Sandy Leon (C, BOS) - $2,900

I've been riding Gary Sanchez till the cows come home, but it felt necessary to switch it up. The Great Leon continues to have a miracle season in Boston;  he has averaged 14 FanDuel points in his last six contests.

First Base (1B)

Joey Votto (1B, CIN) - $3,600

Umm, really? Votto has been of the best hitters in baseball this year and has scored in double digits in five of his past six games. Darvish be damned, this is too low for the Cincy slugger.

Second Base (2B)

Cesar Hernandez (2B, PHI) - $3,000

Hernandez has had a great August, slashing .324/.403/.515 in 68 at-bats. He get the day off Tuesday so he should be fresh and ready to go versus Shields, who we've previously mentioned is ripe for the picking.

Shortstop (SS)

Addison Russell (SS, CHC) - $3,200

Russell has been on fire, posting four home runs in his past four games. His 80 RBI now lead all shortstops and he's available at a great price versus a beatable Paul Clemens.

Third Base (3B)

Nolan Arenado (3B, COL) - $3,800

How is he not over $4,000!? Arenado has had games of 57, 12, and 31 points in the past three games. He also owns a 1.493 OPS at Miller Field in his career. Safe to say he likes the place. Pay the coin and reap the rewards.

DFS Outfielders to Consider for FanDuel

David Dahl (OF, COL) - $3,500

Dahl continues to show a future after CarGo in the Rockies outfield, slashing .337/.382/.566 in 28 games. He's scored at least one run in five of his past six games and I expect him to keep that rolling today.

Odubel Herrera (OF, PHI) - $2,900

Herrera continues to be a focal point of the Phillies offense (.808 OPS in August) and has an .850 OPS versus RHP. He'll be heavy owned at this price point versus Shields.

Alex Gordon (OF, KC) - $2,800

The downside here is the date with JoFer, but Gordon has been on fire, hitting in nine consecutive games and raising his average by 20 points. I'll take my chances with the hot hitter here.

Also Consider: Carlos Gonzalez (OF, COL) - $3,600 and Nick Markakis (OF, ATL) - $3,100
