BALLER MOVE: Start in 12+ Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: RB2
ANALYSIS: New England Patriots running back Ezekiel Elliott got no respect from the fantasy football community during the preseason. While many called the former first-round pick washed or a shell of his former self, Elliott has become a borderline league winner this year. The veteran is the RB32 for the season, averaging 8.5 half-point PPR fantasy points per game.
Elliott’s fantasy value has skyrocketed after Rhamondre Stevenson suffered a high ankle sprain in the Week 13 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. While the team had hoped Stevenson could return this year, the Patriots placed the talented running back on season-ending injured reserve.
In the three games without Stevenson, Elliott has been outstanding. He has been the RB8 over the past three weeks, averaging 15.7 fantasy points per game. The veteran has turned into a pass-catching machine, totaling 21 receptions in the three games without Stevenson.
Tomorrow, Elliott faces the Buffalo Bills in a critical AFC East divisional matchup. The Bills have shut down opposing running backs lately, giving up only one rushing touchdown over their past six contests.
Yet, fantasy players should start Elliott as an RB2. He has been productive without Stevenson and plays a critical role in the team’s passing attack.
