DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (5/13/23): MLB DFS Lineups

zac gallen fantasy baseball rankings draft sleepers MLB injury news

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel and DraftKings on May 13, 2023. John Brubaker's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

Happy Saturday RotoBallers, and happy baseball season! This is John Brubaker dropping some of my favorite plays for today's slate! I'm so excited that MLB DFS is back, and here's a chance to start the season off on the right foot! We have a decent slate tonight, with six games on tap. Let's get right to it!

We don't have any slate differences today, which is always a good thing. That way I don't have to make selections that may be on one slate and not the other. I have big ideas for this slate, so let's get right to it. I want to note, my writeups will get a bit more detailed as the season goes on, as I'm still making adjustments to my projection model this early on in the season.

This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 5/13/2023 and the slate locking at 7:05 pm ET. The lineup picks will range from some elite players to mid-priced options, and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. It's also essential to monitor injury news and today's MLB starting lineups. Now that we got all of that out of the way, it's onto the picks!

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Zac Gallen, ARI vs SF ($10,500 DK, $11,500 FD)

I'll start tonight's slate off with Zac Gallen. Gallen (5-1, 2.36 ERA) is picking up right where he left off in 2022, with a scorching hot start to his season. He takes on a Giants lineup that he hasn't pitched too great against in his career (2-4, 4.05 ERA), but projects to a 2.78 SIERA in this one. The Giants rank fourth in both wOBA and wRC+ against right-handed pitching, but Gallen has been so good this season that I believe he's the guy to pay up for tonight.

Adrian Houser, MIL vs KC ($6,600 DK, $8,400 FD

If you're looking for an SP2 on DraftKings, look no further than Adrian Houser. Houser (0-0, 3.86 ERA) is making just his second start of the season, but fortunately gets a matchup against a Royals offense that ranks 25th in wOBA (.293) and 26th in wRC+ (82). Houser projects to a 3.31 SIERA and 21.53% strikeout rate in this one, and provides more than enough value for us, especially if he gets the win.

Also consider: Julio Urias, Joe Musgrove

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Trea Turner - SS, PHI vs. Ryan Feltner ($5,200 DK, $3,300 FD)

As far as hitters go, I'll take a look at Trea Turner. Turner has gotten off to a slow start in 2023, slashing just .261/.305/.408 with four homers and four stolen bases. He projects to a .304 wOBA and 23.01% hard contact rate, along with a 26.68% strikeout rate against Rockies starter Ryan Feltner. With him being hitless in five at-bats against the righty, nothing really sticks out as far as "why" anyone should play him. I wouldn't recommend it on DraftKings, but you're getting Trea Turner for $3.3K in Coors on FanDuel.

Manny Machado - 3B, SD vs. Julio Urias ($5,000 DK, $3,000 FD)

Similar to Turner, Machado feels like an absolute steal on FanDuel tonight. Manny's coming into this one slashing .250/.295/.403, with five homers and an OPS+ of 96. It's been a slow start, but I have the feeling he has a good one tonight. Machado will take on Julio Urias, a lefty whom he's 9-25 with four home runs against in his career. He projects to a .458 wOBA tonight, along with a 30.21% hard contact rate.

Josh Rojas - 2B/3B, ARI vs. Anthony DeSclafani ($4,700 DK, $2,900 FD)

I'll wrap things up with Josh Rojas. Rojas comes into this one slashing just .255/.311/.330, along with a 78 OPS+. He projects to a .311 wOBA and a 35.11% hard contact rate against Giants righty Anthony DeSclafani. Rojas comes into this one 3-9 with two doubles against DeSclafani in his career and proves to be a solid option in our lineups tonight.

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Bryce Harper - OF, PHI vs. Ryan Feltner ($5,700 DK, $4,100 FD)

In terms of outfielders, I'll start right off where I started off last week, with Phillies' outfielder/designated hitter Bryce Harper. Harper has been raking to start off his season, coming into this one with four multi-hit games in just eight games played. He'll take on Ryan Feltner in Coors, and projects to a whopping .639 wOBA and 41.41% hard contact rate.

Randal Grichuk - OF, COL vs. Ranger Suarez ($4,000 DK, $3,600 FD)

Next, I'll go on the other side of that game out in Colorado with Randal Grichuk. Grichuk comes into this one slashing .361/.425/.528 with a 146 OPS+. Grichuk has had just four at-bats against Phillies' lefty Ranger Suarez, going 1-4, but projects very strongly with a 43.71% hard contact rate and an insane .720 wOBA. I know Suarez is a good starter, but Grichuk is an absolute steal here, especially considering this will be Suarez's debut after dealing with some forearm and elbow issues.

Jesse Winker - OF, MIL vs. Zack Greinke ($2,800 DK, $2,500 FD)

I'll wrap things up with Jesse Winker, who comes into this one slashing .230/.356/.270 with just a 77 OPS+. Winker is continually trying to find "it", whatever he had in his 2021 all-star campaign, and I think he can at least give us a flash of that tonight. He projects to a .311 wOBA and 35.41% hard contact rate against veteran Zack Greinke. Winker hasn't ever faced the 39-year-old righty, but I expect him to do some damage tonight.

DraftKings, FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks

Philadelphia Phillies vs. Ryan Feltner

As far as stacks go, I'll take a look at the Phillies in Coors tonight against Ryan Feltner. Feltner tossed 5.2 innings of three-hit ball against the Phils back on April 20, but that was in Philadelphia. The Phillies have seemingly begun to figure things out, despite sending the minimum amount of batters to the plate through the first six innings last night. They managed to score six runs in just three innings, and come into this one ranked eighth in wOBA (.332) and ninth in wRC+ (106) against righties.

Favorite Players: Trea Turner, Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber, Alec Bohm, Brandon Marsh

Milwaukee Brewers vs. Zack Greinke

I'll take a look at the Brewers against Zack Greinke tonight. Greinke comes into this one with a 5.18 ERA and 4.30 xFIP. The Brewers have hit well against right-handed pitching this season, ranking 11th in wOBA (.325) and 13th in wRC+ (102). They're the second-highest projected stack on my model, though, projecting to a .335 wOBA and 39.71% hard contact rate.

Favorite Players: Christian Yelich, Jesse Winker, Willy Adames, Rowdy Tellez, Brian Anderson

Also Consider: Colorado Rockies, Arizona Diamondbacks
