DraftKings Daily Fantasy Baseball Lineup Picks (8/29/16): MLB DFS Advice

Barry Leonard Jr. highlights the top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for 8/29/16. These are the top value and sleeper plays for your DraftKings MLB DFS lineups.

It's a rather large slate of games to choose from for a Monday evening and DraftKings is offering three sets of contests to participate in. Some very expensive pitching options will be on the mound tonight, making finding some extra value on offense even more important.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball MLB lineup picks for DraftKings on 8/29/16. The DFS lineup picks will range from high-priced to low-priced options and identify options who will out-perform their expectations, including sleepers and value plays on DraftKings. The following targets have been selected for all day contests on DraftKings.

DFS Lineup Stacks to Target on DraftKings

Washington Nationals vs. Jake Thompson (RHP)

It's no secret that the Nationals have one of the most potent lineups in the league. That makes them worth a lineup stack on most nights. Monday is no exception, as Washington faces Philadelphia and rookie right-hander Jake Thompson. With an ERA of 9.78 and 12 earned runs in his last two starts, Thompson is clearly struggling. Washington hitters, particularly the lefties.

Detroit Tigers vs. James Shields (RHP)

Shields has been downright awful this season, especially after his move back to the American League. The veteran righty has been especially bad as of late, allowing at least four runs in each of his last five starts and 17 runs in his last three starts. Detroit hitters are the next team to take advantage of him. The Tigers put up six run on Shields in just five innings back on August 2. Miguel Cabrera, James McCann, and J.D. Martinez stand out as ones to target in a stack tonight.

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider on DraftKings

Tanner Roark, WAS at PHI - $8,600

Facing off against Philadelphia has usually meant a good matchup for opposing starting pitchers this year. Tanner Roark is in a great spot tonight, having been very successful in his three meetings with the Phillies this year. He's posted a record of 2-0 and has given up just two earned runs. Roark has posted four wins in his last six starts and will look to bounce back after allowing four earned runs in five innings against Baltimore in his last game.

Carlos Martinez, STL at MIL - $10,300

Martinez enters tonight with wins in each of his last two starts, having allowed a total of two earned runs. He's a great option considering the favorable matchup with the Brewers. He allwed just two runs and has two wins in two starts against Milwaukee this season. With a solid ERA and a great chance at a win considering that St. Louis has one of the best lineups in the league, Martinez should be considered among the top pitching options.

DFS Infielders to Consider on DraftKings

Catcher (C)

Nick Hundley, COL vs. LAD - $3,700

Hundley has been a very good source of fantasy production from the catcher position this season, averaging just over six fantasy points a game. Although he's o-for-3 in his career versus opposing starter Kenta Maeda, Hundley is still a very smart play tonight. He got the day off Sunday and enters Monday on a three-game hit streak. It's interesting that Hundley has more home runs and a higher average away from Coors Field, but that doesn't mean he should be forgotten about tonight.

First Base (1B)

Edwin Encarnacion, TOR at BAL - $5,000

Encarnacion has been hitting well in the month of August, but what makes him a target tonight is his successful history against opposing starter Wade Miley. He's 5-for-9 with two home runs and three RBI against him. Encarnacion continues to be a good source of home runs and RBI and is worth paying the price for tonight.

Second Base (2B)

Raul Mondesi, KC vs. NYY - $2,600

In order to make this lineup work tonight you are going to have to take some very low-priced players. One of those is Raul Mondesi. Despite hitting below the Mendoza line this season, he's shown some signs of life lately with at least 14 fantasy points in two of his last three games. Mondesi is clearly not the best option at second base, but if he gets anywhere near his 5.3 average of fantasy points per game you'll take it.

Shortstop (SS)

Corey Seager, LAD at COL - $5,500

Seager has had a fantastic full rookie campaign and has quickly turned into one of the top shortstops available for daily fantasy leagues. He's 5-for-8 against Jon Gray with a home run and an average of .625. For the season, Seager is hitting .321 with 23 home runs. He's seeing the ball well and gets to play in Coors Field today. The price tag is high, but Seager needs to be started tonight.

Third Base (3B)

Ryon Healy, OAK at HOU - $2,800

Ryon Healy is one of the hottest hitters in the league right now, yet his price tag for daily lineups has remained under the $3,000 mark. He had another big game Sunday (two doubles and a run scored) and currently has a 14-game hit streak. Those numbers alone make Healy an absolute must-start until he shows signs of cooling down.

DFS Outfielders to Consider on DraftKings

Cameron Maybin, DET vs. CWS - $4,400

If you are stacking Detroit against James Shields tonight there are several good options available. However, you won't be able to afford them all. A bit of a cheaper alternative to J.D. Martinez is Cameron Maybin. He's got a lifetime .353 against Shields and has been hitting well with a .333 average in the month of August. With three-double-digit fantasy performances in his last five games, be sure to take Maybin tonight.

Kole Calhoun, LAA vs. CIN- $3,300

On an LA team that's been riddled with injuries this season, Calhoun has been playing a big role recently. He's riding a five-game hit streak heading into tonight and has averaged eight fantasy points over his five games. He's a cheap option with potential sleeper status thanks to his recent production.

Leonys Martin, TEX vs. SEA - $3,700

Martin should be in the lineup with righty Yu Darvish on the mound tonight. He's hitting .320 in the last week and just had a five-game hit streak come to an end Sunday. He doesn't steal a ton of bases (16 so far this season), but he does have speed that can add to his value to fantasy lineups. This one is a sleeper, but his recent play makes him one to target.
