Devaughn Vele is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup option for wide receivers. Target him as a free agent add off waivers for Week 2 of the 2024 NFL season.
BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 0.7% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: With question marks surrounding Denver’s receiver room entering Week 1, rookie quarterback Bo Nix spread the ball around to a plethora of playmakers. One of the beneficiaries was 26-year-old rookie Devaughn Vele, who was picked in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Vele drew eight targets in the loss to Seattle last Sunday, catching all eight passes for 39 yards. The rookie emerged as a security blanket in the short passing game for his fellow rookie quarterback. Vele played 49% of the snaps in the loss.

Despite his encouraging usage in his first game as a pro, Vele is not a priority waiver add. Courtland Sutton (12 targets) and Josh Reynolds (eight targets) are going to keep getting targets, and this offense is among the league’s worst. Vele can be picked up in deep leagues with the hope that he continues to earn targets consistently, but he should be left on the waiver wire in most formats.
