ANALYSIS: Buffalo Bills TE Dawson Knox has been a popular target in fantasy drafts the previous two seasons, and rightfully so. He finished as a top-10 tight end in the 2021 and 2022 seasons.

His stock quickly fell this off-season when the Bills invested their 2023 first-round pick on Utah Utes TE Dalton Kincaid. Kincaid was considered the best pass-catching tight end in the draft class, and his college stats backed it up. He reeled in a total of 106 receptions for 1400 yards and 16 touchdowns in his final two seasons in college.
It was assumed that Kincaid would walk into the lead TE role in this offense, but that has not necessarily been the case up to this point. Knox has continued to maintain a role for himself in the Bills offense, playing 84% of snaps in Week 1 as well as 71% of snaps in Week 2.
The most redeeming part of Knox’s fantasy value is his preexisting relationship with QB Josh Allen, more specifically in the redzone. Knox has been a favored target for Allen over the years, as he caught six touchdowns from Allen in 2022 and nine touchdowns in 2021.
We saw this come to light again in their Week 2 matchup against the Raiders when Knox caught a two-yard touchdown pass from Allen.
Knox will not have the target share and volume he once had in this offense, which will prevent him from being a premier fantasy TE as he has been in years past.
However, his weekly touchdown-scoring opportunities in this pass-happy Bills offense warrant him to have a roster spot in deeper leagues and can be upgraded to a starter in the event of bye weeks and injuries.
