Chiefs running back (RB) Darrel Williams is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup to target as a free agent addition for Week 17 of the 2020 NFL season.
BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED: 3% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: With Clyde Edwards-Helaire (ankle) sidelined in Week 16, the stage appeared to be set for a big game for Le'Veon Bell against the Atlanta Falcons. That wasn't the case. Instead, Darrel Williams was the busiest running back for the Kansas City Chiefs, both as a rusher and as a pass-catcher. He's now an extremely intriguing waiver wire target going into Week 17.
In Week 16, Williams carried the ball 10 times for 46 yards and caught four of his six targets for 27 yards. Bell, on the other hand, carried the ball seven times for 30 yards and caught one of his three targets for nine yards. Williams averaged 4.6 yards per carry while Bell averaged 4.3.
The 10 carries were a season-high for Williams, who previously hadn't seen more than seven carries in a game. His six targets were also a season-high.
If Edwards-Helaire remains out in Week 17, Williams will be a fantastic flex option in leagues of 12 teams or deeper as the Chiefs face the Los Angeles Chargers. Williams is worth a speculative add in all leagues for anyone who is playing into Week 17. Any player getting double-digit touches in the electric Chiefs offense is worthy of start consideration.
