Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox - Yesterday's Recap

Ellis Canady reviews last night's MLB box scores (9/11) and provides fun opinions on a variety of topics to help fantasy baseball owners with their lineups.

Welcome to the Thursday, September 12th edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.

Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.

In this article, I review the previous day's boxscores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on September 12th. Enjoy them. You can even respond with your own thoughts on Twitter @EllisCan2.

Daily Musings

  • Carrot or Stick?! "Carrot, please.” No! You get the stick! Reynaldo Lopez w/4.2IP, 6ER.
  • (Jorge) Soler Flare is non-stop. So intense. (43).
  • Adalberto Mondesi loves him some combo meal(9HR/39SB) Tried that Hardees chocolate shake? Fake chocolate.
  • Anyone ever think Jonathan Villar would reach the 2nd/3rd rd of drafts? Wait for it.
  • Ross Stripling is 47% owned. Rotation too crowded to get too many innings.
  • Thank you, A.J. Pollock, for your sneaky value in the stretch run.
  • Sometimes you go to dirty places for saves. Mark Melancon has 11.
  • Step back, step back! Dallas Keuchel had 8K in 6IP.
  • Bryce Harper puts on his five-finger-discount gloves. (12).
  • Rowdy Tellez sends another love bug (19) into the stands. Third in the last week.
  • Josh Hader reaches 30SV. 41.6%K-BB is amazing.
  • Someone call Maine. They’ve got a Moose loose. Mike Moustakas w/two Thunder-Shots (33).
  • Anyone else use Robbie Ray in H2H playoffs game this week? 0.2IP, 5ER increases the challenge.
  • Jeff McNeill got everything when he pulled away from the drive-thru. Combo meal. Check (20/5). Hot apple pie. Check.
  • Amed Rosario strengthens the SS pool. 12HR, 17SB, .288AVG.
  • Todd Frazier (remember him?) matches McNeill’s two taters (20).
  • Jorge Polanco gives a gentle reminder that you got great value w/him. 21st dinger.
  • Oh, forgot about Trea. Turner w/the bass; a 436ft shot(14). 90.1mph avg exit velocity.
  • Stephen Strasburg was an afterthought in 2019 drafts. 17W later.
  • Ji-Man Choi w/two delicious treats (15). 잘 했어요.
  • Carlos Carrasco slides in for the win. Baseball is wonderful.
  • It’s too late. No discount on Francisco Lindor. Not even one pick. He’s great.
  • Carlos Santana plays that funky music w/solo piece (34).
  • Can all my competitors please forget about Shohei Ohtani(18HR/12SB/.286AVG) in 2020? At least for the first three rounds.
  • Yes, remove Wade Miley; replace w/Jose Urquidy (5IP, 1ER, 10K).
  • Ooooh-weee! George Springer w/four shooting stars in four games. I made a wish.
  • Don't be being rude, people! Remember all the bashing when I ranked Josh James “absurdly low”? Let’s revisit.
  • Marcus Semien, did you get the Popeyes or Chick-Fil-A chicken sandwich combo meal? 28HR/10SB.
  • Jesus Luzardo has arrived. Smooth Operator.
  • So, is it Liam Hendriks or Blake Treinen in 2020?
  • Four homers in six games sounds so much better when you say it, Jose Abreu (32HR).
  • Eeeeeeloy! Eloy Jimenez w/26th cannon fire.
  • Maybe Dakota Hudson should join the Rockies. 6IP, 2ER, 7K. --- 5BB tagging along. ---
  • What?! Felipe Vázquez w/another SV(27).
  • Tuck head, turn & walk away. Logan Webb did not spin a good one w/4.2IP, 4ER, 4K. ‘A’ for consistency.
  • Objects are closer than you want them to be. Mallex Smith (41SB) just ahead of Mondesi.
  • We all have tons of better pitchers who are suffering, but Marco Gonzales has 15W.
  • Manuel Margot unable to make choice for his combo meal (12HR/20SB). Big Beef MexiMelt isn’t on the menu anymore.
  • Chris Paddack put the Cubs out to pasture. 6IP, 0ER, 7K. Ninth W.
  • Have a great Thursday. Dental appt? Mowing the lawn? Building a new bench? Releasing a skunk from a trap? Whatever it is, enjoy the day.
  • No Fear, Just Fantasy.
