Welcome to the Thursday, August 22nd edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.
Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.
In this article, I review the previous day's boxscores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on August 22nd. Enjoy them. - Dee Gordon w/career-best exit velo (83.3mph) is bottom 20 in baseball. He's here for the 18SB.
- How exclusive is 14-Win club when Lucas Giolito strolls in? Happy for his turnaround.
- Best second basemen: Ketel Marte 5.7WAR. 141 wRC+.
- Jon Gray done for the season. Is Tim Melville the answer?
- Asdrubal Cabrera has always loved him some August(.277 career) & September (.288 career). Solid Nats lineup bodes well. Just needs PT.
- Maybe Joe Musgrove needed another year of seasoning.
- Corbin. Corbin, My Man! With two successful seasons, I'm a believer Patrick Corbin.
- I guess Mike Montgomery doesn't have everything figured out yet. At least not the O's.

- See what could happen w/consistent PT. Willie Calhoun w/back-to-back HR games.
- How many playing double-dutch w/Delino DeShields? Waiting for the right time to get in. Missed another SB.
- Hansel Robles blowing a save isn't a good look.

- Jackie Bradley Jr. has defense & once in a while, the sun shines through his cloudy batting skills. 16th ray of sunshine.
- Rafael Devers w/19 errors. Thank goodness for Tim Anderson (20). How long before Devers moves to 1B?
