Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox (6/21/19)

Ellis Canady reviews last night's MLB box scores (6/20) and provides fun opinions on a variety of topics to help fantasy baseball owners with their lineups.

Welcome to the Friday, June 21st edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.

Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.

In this article, I review the previous day's boxscores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on June 21st. Enjoy them. You can even respond with your own thoughts on Twitter @EllisCan2.

Daily Musings

  • So you don’t like Jose Ramirez? Can you please return the 17 SB(third in league)? No he’s not Billy Hamilton (14SB, .225AVG, .295BABIP); JRAM (.201AVG, .219BABIP)
  • I hope you kept your Brendan Rodgers shares w/ Trevor Story to IL. Not a great schedule w/six games vs LAD.
  • Danny Santana is the fill-in you need. Two-straight games w/HR.
  • Jean Segura. No hustle?! Smash HR(seven) so I can take my sweet time.
  • Can’t get rid of Ian Desmond. 4HR, 16HR, 1SB, .405AVG in two weeks.
  • Victor Robles feeling feisty. Two-straight games w/HR(11). Don’t give up on him.
  • Yankees offense is going to be so ridiculous. Edwin Encarnacion w/two HR in three games. And they gave up some couch pennies for him?!
  • Yordan Alvarez took 4games off from hitting bombs. Back at it (five).
  • The love of the game. Big boy Rowdy Tellez going for his second SB. Caught but love the determination.
  • Respect to Lourdes Gurriel for fixing his game in the minors. 9HR 23RBI, 2SB, .333AVG last 30 days. I still don’t like the Chase (35%), Contact (70%), and Swinging Strike (14%) rates.
  • Jordan Yamamoto says “Do this, don’t do that, can’t you read the signs.” to Zac Gallen. He saw the signs in debut (5IP, 1ER, 6K). Nats next. Hmmm.
  • Adbert Alzolay “Oooh, I love this follower thing.” W, 4IP, 1ER, 5K. ATL next. Eesh.
  • In today’s boring news: Peter Alonso HR(25); Christian Yelich HR(28)
  • Jimmy Nelson is not liking this kind of red carpet. 12IP, 9.75ERA. Rusty. We waited two years for this? Mariners (next): “please keep him in the rotation.”
  • Nick Senzel HR(seven) & Yasiel Puig SB(10). Reds
  • Jorge Polanco, we haven’t heard from you in a while. 11th HR. Still batting .325, I see.
  • Willson Contreras w/some serious cojones.
  • Jake Odorizzi loses to Adalberto Mondesi-less Royals?! A Glenn Sparkman w/the W. Ian Kennedy w/SV?! Twilight zone.
  • The one that coats is the only one you need. Pepto-Bismol for all those Blake Treinen owners 0.0IP, 3ER, 2BB, 0K
  • 423ft smokin' hot tamale from Matt Chapman (17). Love it.
  • Domingo Santana on cruise control. Three HR in two games w/three more games vs BAL. Enjoy.
  • I always loved Gilroy, CA. Kyle Garlick smashing performance (2HR, .250AVG in 20AB) will bring a tear to your eye. Today’s multi-faceted dad joke. Check.
  • Trevor Bauer should have easy game tonight vs DET. Let's see if he makes it difficult.
  • Tampa Bay & Montreal sharing a team?! Ludacris. The Rays invented the opener for pitchers, not for teams. Shenanigans. Montreal deserves to have a team. Just bring back the Expos w/Tim Raines as a part of the team.
  • Enjoy your Friday baseball. Be engaged with other baseball fans.
  • No Fear, Just Fantasy.
