Daily Fantasy Baseball Lineup Picks (9/24/17): MLB Advice for FanDuel and DraftKings

Welcome back to one of the last installments of Sunday Funday MLB DFS Advice with JB. It has been quite a journey we have endured together. Today may be a NFL Sunday, but it also has extreme importance in the fantasy baseball world with most leagues' championship match-ups concluding today. Since you are going to be watching MLB scores for your season-long leagues, you might as well build yourself a winning DFS lineup while you're at it. Today we have an eight game main slate on both sites, which hasn't happened on a Sunday since I can't even remember. These eight early games will be our main focus in this article.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 9/24/17. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays.

If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @RowdyRotoJB and be sure to follow @RotoBallerMLB for year-round fantasy baseball news, articles, and advice.

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider

Max Scherzer - at NYM (DK - $12,900, FD - $10,800)

No surprise here. There's no need to get cute in cash games today, just pay up for Mad Max. Scherzer hasn't had a pretty month of September, but the last time he faced this offense at Citi Field he struck out 10 and earned 61 FP (FD). On the road this season, he owns a 1.84 ERA. During day games this season, he owns a 1.96 ERA and a 12.5 K/9. In his last two Sunday outings, Mad Max has struck out 22 batters.

Chase Anderson - vs CHC (DK - $7,800, FD - $8,000)

Due to the opponent and a hot opposing pitcher on the mound, Anderson's ownership should be fairly low which will make him a nice GPP play today. After missing the entire month of July due to injury, Anderson has been lights out through three starts in September, allowing only one earned run through 16 1/3 IP. One of those three starts came against this Cubs team, who he blanked for five innings. He now has 14 consecutive starts allowing three ER or fewer, and he has been stellar at home all season.

The risk for Anderson today is stamina, as he has only made it through six innings twice in his last four contests. If he can go at least six again today the ceiling is very high, but the floor is also high enough-with this streak he is on- to keep you in the green even if he can't finagle the QS.

DFS Infielders to Consider

Christian Vazquez - C, at CIN (DK - $3,500, FD - $2,700)

The Red Sox are in a good run-scoring spot today against Reds youngster Jackson Stephens. Making just his second start of the year this past Tuesday against the Cardinals, he lasted only 3 1/3 innings while giving up five ER and two bombs. Not to mention, Stephens owned a 1.49 WHIP in Triple A this year. Vazquez has been a severely underrated contributor to the Red Sox offense this season, hitting .296. Over the past two weeks, he is hitting .344.

Logan Morrison - 1B, at BAL (DK - $4,100, FD - $2,700)

Man has it been an ugly month for Morrison. LoMo was on a 1-29 skid heading into this weekend. But a series at Baltimore was just what he needed to turn things around. He reached base three times Friday and went yard in yesterday's contest. For the season, he owns a 1.093 OPS through eight games at Camden Yards. Today he faces a familiar foe in Dylan Bundy, who LoMo is 5-12 with a double and two dongs against for his career. FanDuel is just begging you to take him today with this price. However, if you are playing on DraftKings there is no reason to pass over Jose Abreu who has a monster match-up of his own, at the same price.

Also Consider: Jose Abreu - 1B, vs KCR (DK - $4,100, FD - $3,700)

Jonathan Schoop - 2B, vs TB (DK - $3,900, FD - $2,700)

Here is another cold hitter looking to get back on track with the help of some hefty BvP stats. For his career, Schoop is 8-22 with two doubles and three HR against Chris Archer, and as we all know, if you are going to pick on Archer- you do it while he is on the road. In his one start at Camden Yards this season, Archer surrendered three long balls and five earned runs.

Rafael Devers - 3B, at CIN (DK - $3,900, FD - $3,500)

My next choice to target Jackson Stephens is rookie-phenom Rafael Devers. After belting six bombs in August, the power stick has calmed down a bit for Devers, but the average is still increasing. He is hitting .313 on the month and .375 over the last seven days. If there is a player destined to take Stephens deep today, its this guy.

Johan Camargo - SS, vs PHI (DK - $3,300, FD - $2,800)

I couldn't make it through this entire article without picking on Nick Pivetta pitching in SunTrust Park. The switch-hitting Camargo is hitting a remarkable .381/.395/.524 over the last 28 days, and is hitting .321 at SunTrust this season. The lack of XBH sadly caps his upside on DFS, but he does have two in only four AB against Nick Pivetta this season.

DFS Outfielders to Consider

Scott Schebler - OF, vs BOS (DK - $3,800, FD - $3,000)

Doug Fister has only lasted six innings over his last two starts combined, and has given up 11 ER. Most of the damage is being done by LHB, who are hitting .298 against him on the season. That's about as deep as I need to go here.

Tommy Pham - OF, at PIT (DK - $4,700, FD - $3,900)

One of the main splits lessons that has been etched into my brain this baseball season is start Tommy Pham for away games. For the season he is hitting .342 with a 1.036 OPS on the road. Today he is in PNC Park where he has hit .321 with a .994 OPS this season against Jameson Taillon who he is 4-8 with two doubles against for his career. Its like clockwork I'm tellin' ya.
