Clyde Edwards-Helaire is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup option for running backs. Target him as a free agent add off waivers for Week 7 of the 2024 NFL season.

ANALYSIS: Kansas City Chiefs running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire hasn’t played this year after starting the season on the Non-Football Illness list. The veteran running back had little fantasy football appeal heading into Week 1, with Isiah Pacheco healthy. Unfortunately, the third-year running back is on injured reserve with a fractured fibula.
Edwards-Helaire was eligible to come off the Non-Football Illness list after the Week 4 win over the Los Angeles Chargers. However, Kansas City didn’t place him on the 53-man roster for the Week 5 matchup against the New Orleans Saints, giving him a few more weeks to prepare for his season debut.
The Chiefs had their bye in Week 6. However, head coach Andy Reid told the media today that he needs to speak to Edwards-Helaire before determining his status for this weekend’s game.

Fantasy players in deeper leagues can add Edwards-Helaire off the waiver wire, hoping he earns a role in the backfield. However, Kareem Hunt has been outstanding since rejoining the team, meaning Edwards-Helaire will likely need an injury to the veteran to become fantasy-relevant.
