BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 15% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: In 2019, the Chiefs faced a big dilemma. With Patrick Mahomes, it was obvious that their bread and butter would be their passing game, but they needed to have an effective run game to win the Super Bowl. Damien Williams gave them a massive boost and was perhaps their best player in Super Bowl LIV, which they won.
However, Williams could never stay fully healthy, and after he opted out of the 2020 season to take care of his mother, the Chiefs drafted Clyde Edwards-Helaire out of LSU. He had a very solid start to his career, but injuries have ruined his development so far.

Edwards-Helaire got hurt in his rookie season, before going on IR in year two. He went on IR again in 2022 and lost his job to Isiah Pacheco. The Chiefs then declined his team option for 2024, putting his NFL future in serious jeopardy.
This has been something of a wake-up call for Edwards-Helaire, who had a really nice outing against the hapless Chicago Bears. Helaire might've been the third-best fantasy running back on his team in that game, but still managed to finish 17th in the standard and Half PPR formats, and finished 19th in the PPR format.
Edwards-Helaire is still showing that he can be a valuable contributor on a Chiefs team that still hasn't figured out their true main running option. With the Chiefs facing some of the worst rushing defenses in the league like the Jets, Vikings, Dolphins, and their division rivals Raiders and Broncos (twice), taking a chance on Edwards-Helaire could prove to be a wise move. He could go off at any given game.
