Chris Godwin start 'em, sit 'em fantasy football lineup picks for Wild Card Weekend. Should you start or sit Chris Godwin in playoffs fantasy football lineups (2023)?
BALLER MOVE: Start in 10+ Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: WR2
ANALYSIS: Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin had a slightly disappointing year. The former Penn State star was the WR31, averaging 9.9. half-point PPR fantasy points per game during the regular season. Mike Evans had a massive year as Baker Mayfield’s go-to target, leaving Godwin with an inconsistent target share.
Yet, Evans and Godwin each had over 1,000 receiving yards during the regular season. They are the only teammates to each have over 1,000 receiving yards in three consecutive years.
After winning the NFC South division title in Week 18, the Buccaneers will host the Philadelphia Eagles in the first round of the playoffs. Tampa Bay and Philadelphia played in Week 3, with the Eagles getting a 25-11 victory. Godwin had a poor performance, totaling only three receptions on five targets for 32 receiving yards and 6.7 fantasy points in the loss.
However, the veteran wide receiver is a solid fantasy option in the first round of the playoffs because of the matchup. Philadelphia surrendered 38.9 fantasy points per game to wide receivers, the most in the NFL. Hopefully, the matchup is fantasy-friendly enough to make Godwin a top-tier starting option this weekend.
