Braelon Allen is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup option for running backs. Target him as a free agent add off waivers for Week 2 of the 2024 NFL season.
BALLER MOVE: Add As a Handcuff
ROSTERED IN: 25% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: New York Jets running back Braelon Allen logged just two touches in his NFL debut against the San Francisco 49ers on Monday night. Starting RB Breece Hall took all the meaningful touches, and given Hall's talent, that's unlikely to change soon.
While it's possible Allen could carve out a role in the future, given his impressive athletic profile, for now, Hall is the guy. There isn't much reason to expect Allen to get significant playing time unless the Jets are blowing out their opponent and pulling their starters, and even then, it would be tough to envision reliable production.
Allen is a fantastic handcuff though. There's a good chance he gets the lion's share of the touches if Hall misses time, and he made nice plays against the Commanders in their preseason game against the Jets. Allen has excellent speed and can bulldoze defenders.
Braelon Allen ANGRY RUN
This guy is only 20 years old. Can’t even legally drink yet and he’s truck sticking defenders in the NFL 🤯

If Hall doesn't play, Allen should fill in nicely, and there's a slim possibility that Allen's size could help him see some short yardage carries or limited goal line work even if Hall is healthy, but for now, he's a high-upside handcuff with not much else upside.
