Matthew Boyd Tagged With Loss In His Return
Matthew Boyd made his return to the mound in Sunday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays. He went on to pitch four innings and allow four hits, two walks and two earned runs while striking out five. He was tagged with the loss, dropping his record to 3-7 on the year. The veteran battled through some long at-bats that made his pitch count go up quickly, preventing him from going deeper into the game. Boyd was sidelined for over two months due to elbow discomfort. Sunday's outing was his 14th start of the year and he now has a 3.50 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP on the season. He'll make his next start on Saturday against the Cincinnati Reds.
