The San Diego Padres placed right-hander Craig Stammen on the paternity leave list on Tuesday and recalled right-hander Miguel Diaz from Triple-A El Paso in a corresponding move. Stammen will only be away from the team for a few days. The 37-year-old reliever doesn't have much fantasy appeal in a middle-relief role, but he's been great for the Friars this year with his 2.78 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, one save and 52 strikeouts in 55 innings pitched. Diaz hasn't been bad either, posting a 3.38 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 32 punch-outs in 29 1/3 innings over 17 outings (two starts), but he's likely to head back to the minor leagues when Stammen returns later this week.--Keith Hernandez
