The Oakland Athletics selected California high school shortstop Maxwell Muncy in the first round of the 2021 amateur draft. He was ranked by Rotoballer as the 24th-best talent available and he landed at No. 25. Muncy is nothing like his namesake who plays for the Los Angeles Dodgers (but was also once an A's draft pick as a fifth-rounder back in 2012). The younger Muncy has a quick bat, above-average power potential, and should develop into an above-average hitter in time if he can limit the swing and miss.
