Brad Hand Likely The Nationals Closer

Washington Nationals relief pitcher Brad Hand will be the Nationals closer "in a perfect world," according to manager Dave Martinez. Hand previously held the closing gig in San Diego and Cleveland from 2017-20, so this news should be no surprise. Although his xFIP has increased in all three most recent seasons, it has remained solid, sitting at 3.83 in 2020 despite a miniscule 2.05 ERA. He has also lost some velocity, but with the closing gig apparently locked down to begin the year, Hand keeps his spot as one of the better relief pitchers available in fantasy drafts. He's ranked as the 10th-best fantasy reliever by RotoBaller.
