The Denver Broncos placed rookie cornerback Essang Bassey (knee) on Injured Reserve on Wednesday after he suffered a knee injury against the Chiefs last Sunday night. Head coach Vic Fangio said Bassey would miss the rest of the year, with the injury likely to his ACL. The 22-year-old from Wake Forest had 23 tackles, one interception, two passes defensed and a fumble recovery in 12 games (three starts) in his first NFL season. The Broncos also lost Bryce Callahan to IR last week and A.J. Bouye to a season-ending suspension, so the Denver secondary is beyond thinned. They could get rookie Derrek Tuszka back from IR soon, but even then they'll be extremely vulnerable.
