The New York Mets are in active talks with free-agent catcher James McCann and are making a serious push for him, according to league sources. A deal isn't close yet, but it's looking likely that he'll receive a four-year deal. If New York lands McCann, it could signal that they are going after other top free agents like George Springer and Trevor Bauer instead of catcher J.T. Realmuto. McCann hit .276 with 25 home runs, 75 RBI and an .808 OPS in 149 games with the White Sox over the last two seasons. He was previously considered one of the weaker pitch-framers in baseball, but he made strides in that area and vastly improved on the defensive side in 2020, making him even more attractive on the open market.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
