Taijuan Walker Shaky In Season Debut

Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Taijuan Walker gave up five runs on seven hits and a walk through 3 1/3 innings in Saturday's loss to the Astros. Walker had only pitched 14 innings in the last two seasons due to injuries and is finally back and healthy for the Mariners. Unfortunately, his first start back was against one of the toughest opponents in the league, the Astros. Though shaking off rust and going up against a very difficult lineup could explain the performance, it's worth noting that Walker only struck out one batter when he has a career 8.1 K/9. For now, you shouldn't drop Walker based on this start, but it may be worth benching him until he can get back to form. Walker is set to take on the Athletics on Friday.
